I had a Winnie the Pooh birthday party when my son turned 3 and it came out adorable, if I do say so myself.
Why Winnie the Pooh?
My little boy really loves Winnie the Pooh movies and episodes. Particularly the Heffalump movie featuring Lumpy and Roo.
While incorporating Lumpy was impossible to do with regards to party supplies like plates and napkins without customizing, I found several ways to bring him in.
Pooh-l Party Invitation
We decided to do the party at my parents’ house and use the pool. Their pool doesn’t have a heater but once I came up with the name Pooh-l party, there was no going back. Like, what??
So I was determined to find a work around and make this Pooh-l party happen.
Side note: I did a little research and found a MidWest Canvas solar pool cover that was under $250. Apparently, they attract and maintain heat in the pool and according to a list of best solar pool covers on Forbes, Midwest Canvas was the way to go.
I used Canva Pro to create my Pooh-l party invitation from scratch. I was able to include Lumpy, Roo, Tigger, Pooh, Piglet and water. In hindsight, I should’ve used different dimensions for an invite I was texting to people’s phones but lesson learned for next time.
Winnie the Pooh Theme Food
As appetizers (sweet and savory), we served:
- Tigger’s Tails
- Rabbit’s Carrot Patch
- Pooh’s Cheese & Honey
- Rabbit’s Vegetable Garden
For the main course we served Tigger’s Spring Tail Pasta.
As treats, we had Winnie the Pooh cookies and cake pops made. We chose pictures of Lumpy, Roo and Pooh for the cookies and chocolate and vanilla cake pops designed to look like honey combs in honey pots. Those were beautifully made by Azucar Creations in Miami.
For the cake, my boy said he wanted ice cream so I got Carvel cake and used a Winnie the Pooh cake topper.
Themed Water Bottles
To create these Winnie the Pooh theme water bottles, I bought regular water bottles and added customized labels that I stuck on.
I got waterproof water bottle labels on Amazon. On the company’s website, they have templates where you add your design.
Tip: I had to do a few test prints on regular paper to make sure the design aligned well. After a few changes to the print settings, we were in business!
For the design, I adapted elements from the invitation. Again, I used Canva Pro to make my design.
I want to keep it 100 cuz I’m your girl. Sticking the labels on and having the ends align perfectly was not a seamless experience. My crafty mom was assisting with this while I was preparing appetizers and I had to share a constant stream of words of comfort and reassurance.
Lumpy & Roo Piñata
My father in law is a creative BOSS and can make anything your mind imagines. I requested a Lumpy piñata to match the invitation and he delivered this masterpiece.
Winnie the Pooh Party Decorations
I got the entrance sign at Michael’s and wrote on it with chalk.
I went to Michael’s to get what I needed to create the Winnie the Pooh food signs. There, I found mini clay pots, which I added yellow paint to and let it drip down the rim. I also got popsicle sticks and faux moss to fill the mini pots. I found the tree slices there, as well, and I didn’t know how I’d incorporate them at the time but I decided to set the food signs on them.
We saw the blue pick up truck while we were at Michael’s and decided to get it because it had an R on it so obviously it was meant for us.
My parents and in laws each bought the plush toys you see here without my direction and coincidentally, there were no duplicates.
I used all things wicker and antique silver to use for serving platters and displays.
The signs, blowouts and images of Winnie the Pooh characters that we added all over came from party supply kits I got on Amazon.
We were expecting 33 guests so I bought these 3 packages to ensure I had enough plates and napkins.

- 1 cake topper (which i just used a decor)
