As a mom, I am sharing a few things I think make amazing gifts for a mom like myself.
I’m keeping it real and only recommending things I love or would love to get.
I’m not recommending items just to make a buck.
Jumping right in…
More Than Just a Card
Lovepop Cards: My husband introduced me to these spectacular laser print pop-up cards several years ago.
On certain occasions, when I’ve only received a card, this feels like it’s more than just a card.
I have since shopped for his cards here as well. They have a good variety so you’re bound to find one that is fitting for the mom in mind.
I bought one for my mom last Mother’s Day. She has a small collection of bird houses so I found the perfect one for her.
Get 5 cards for $50.
For the Pregnant Mom
The Frida Mom Hospital Packing Kit for Labor, Delivery and Postpartum: I got this for my baby’s birth last year.
What a difference from the prep I had to do for my first baby 5 years ago. I stood over my kitchen counter in a 2-person assembly line making my own padscicles. The Frida Postpartum care kit includes these.
I listened to the advice and took as many mesh underwear as the hospital was willing to give me. Any extras would’ve been appreciated. This kit brings 4.
The only piece of this kit I already had from my first pregnancy was the upside down peri bottle, which I loved! I also had a standard peri bottle that the hospital gave me and while those are good, the Frida upside down version was way better.
Everything the kit includes:
- Delivery and Nursing Gown (1 gown) – fits XS-XL
- Labor and Delivery Socks (1 pair)
- 1 Upside Down Peri Bottle
- Disposable Postpartum Underwear (4 pairs) – Size Regular, Waist 28″ – 42″
- Instant Ice Maxi Pads (4 pads)
- Perineal Cooling Pad Liners (24 witch hazel liners)
- Perineal Healing Foam (net 5 fl. oz.)
- Toilet-top storage caddy and carry case
For the Sentimental Breastfeeding Mom
This is me.
I kinda lost my job because how important breastfeeding is to me. It’s no surprise that I want something that will forever more live on and represent the special, bonding experience that was breastfeeding.
That something is breast milk jewelry.
You can either work with someone on Etsy that does it for you, or if you’re a mom that may enjoy doing it herself, there are Breastmilk jewelry kits you can buy on Etsy or Amazon. The really NICE jewelry, of course, tends to be pricey.
For the Culinarily-challenged Mom
I originally made this post stating that you won’t find cooking tools on this list. Technically, that is still true because the Suvie is not a tool, but rather a kitchen robot that cooks for you.
I do not cook. I find the process daunting and stressful. From planning, grocery shopping, prepping and multi-tasking, cooking is an activity that leaves me feeling frazzled.
I came across the opportunity to try out the Suvie and I’m so excited to add it to my postpartum recovery team. While you can use the Suvie to cook your own food, I used their food subscription option so that I can do the least work possible. No meal planning, grocery shopping or thinking necessary. You scan the meal card on the Suvie and you can schedule it for the time you want it to be ready to serve. It will then refrigerate it and start cooking at the appropriate temperature (per shelf) and duration.
If you decide to order the Suvie, message me so I can give you a referral that will get you a $150 food credit.
For the Mom Who Doesn’t Have Time to Shave
I bought this at-home IPL Laser Hair Removal because it was heavily discounted a couple of months ago and I couldn’t be happier about how it works. I don’t need to shave anymore on the areas I’ve used it.
I’ve done several series of in-office hair removal decades ago but since hair follicles that are dormant don’t get zapped, it helps to have a machine at home for future needs. It’s pain-free and and is greatly convenient as it helps you avoid driving to another appointment and of course, spending money. It works on dark hair.
Check out this completely unedited picture of my underarm.
Extra good news is that this IPL laser hair removal machine seems to often be discounted. Make sure to always select all discounts available. Today, they have a 40% coupon and another 5% code. Click the boxes and save.
For the Frazzled-Mind Mama
Panda Planner: My dad bought me a Panda Planner a few years ago.
This is more than your typical agenda.
It promotes happiness and positivity by practicing gratitude and it encourages productivity through goal setting, big picture planning and detailed task lists.
At 8.5 x 11″ it’s not a pocket sized planner. It’s big. Though if you want smaller, they have smaller options as well.
It’s not decorated. It’s straightforward and 100% focused on functionality and it does a damn good job achieving its objective using a scientific approach.
I took a break from it towards the end of my pregnancy because life got crazy but when I started having trouble getting my thoughts in order while trying to work from home as I was caring for my baby, it was time for me to pick it back up.
That about does it!
