I love Dr. Suess and all the nostalgia that images of the Cat in Hat bring.
When my almost-5-year-old was a baby I couldn’t resist a good deal I found to get a tote and 5 Dr. Suess books for some ridiculously minimal price and I bought a couple of others along the way.
Imagine my excitement when I learned that some of these classics are available in Spanish!
I have a mini collection of Dr. Suess books in spanish. Here are all of the ones I’ve found online.
Huevos verdes con jamón
The classic green eggs and ham book. Sam (I am) is now Juan Ramon and like in all the other Spanish versions, they did an impressive job at rhyming while maintaining the same message in spanish.
El Gato Ensombrerado
The main book on the lot.
El Gato ensombrerado ha regresado
The Cat in the Hat Comes Back!
Un Pez Dos Peces Pez Rojo Pez Azul
My boy enjoys this one a lot. This story feels like a hodgepodge of stories but that’s what the English version decided it would be.
Yoruga la Tortuga y otros cuentos
This book has 3 stories in 1 book. I had never heard of these titles in English but I love the rhythm of these and the moral of each story.
¡Oh, cúan lejos llegarás!
Oh, my heart! This one is a personal favorite. My brother had bought a onesie for my boy of this book cover the day I got home from the hospital after he was born and it set the stage for my love for this book for my son. I originally bought one in English and I vividly remember laying on the floor of his room reading it when he was too small to even sit and pausing every few words to regain my composure and carry on. When I realized they existed in spanish, I had to get this one.
¿Eres mi mamá?
My sister had this one from when her daughter was a baby and she let me have it. A simple, cute story that my son memorized.
¡Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad!
This is my other favorite. Me and my boy are both in love with Christmas and the Grinch is a standard part of that.
Ven a mi casa
I love this book that shows different types of houses that you’ll find and the lifestyles of different cultures. It touches on how they sleep, live and eat.
¡Cuántos, cuántos Pies!
For some foot-counting fun.
¡Feliz cumpleaños!
I’ll be reading this one today since it’s my son’s birth month (as well as it being Dr. Suess’ birthday celebration week).
Cuenta con Dr. Seuss 1 2 3
Incorporate some number-learning with this Dr. Suess read.
¡Yo puedo leer con los ojos cerrados!
I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
¡Dientes y más dientes!
Some basic information about teeth, how they’re used and how to take care of them.
El Lórax
We don’t have this one but I’ll buy it if I see it on sale.
