My baby is 6 months today! In honor of his half birthday, I’m sharing my top 6 favorite baby products.
In these short almost-6-months that I’ve had a baby, I have used several baby products.
Some were ah-mazing, some suck and some are just a-ight.
In this post, I’m highlighting only 6 of those that made life with baby easier in some way.
1. Nuby Silicone Diaper Cream Brush
This one is so simple but so good! To make it even better, it costs less than $6. I received this little butt spatula as an add-on to a gift at my baby shower. I didn’t pay much attention to it because I didn’t know how awesome it was. After the baby was first born we would use our fingers to slather on the butt cream, as many of us do. No matter how careful we were, butt cream would end up on baby’s feet or ankles. Then I tried out this bad boy. Now you’ll find it suctioned to the changing table, ready to do it’s job. I will be getting a second one to keep in the diaper bag because if I ever forget to pack the spatula, it feels like such a mess to change a diaper.
2. Baby Delight Snuggle Nest Harmony Co Sleeper
This mobile little co sleeper was hugely convenient the first few months. I wrote a whole post dedicated to it here. To summarize, it provided a safe space on our bed for us to put the baby down to sleep at the beginning of the night before we were ready to join him. Then we could take it along with us when we’d visit any friends or family to give the baby a space to nap.
3. Nuby Silicone Teethe-EEZ Teether with Bristles
My baby boy started teething around 2 months. ? At those early stages it wasn’t really painfully…yet. We used the regular 3 keys teether and the baby seemed to like them enough but then on a couple of particularly stressful nights a month ago, they didn’t seem to alleviate his pain. In fact, it almost felt like they reminded him of it so my husband was under strict instructions not to offer it unless the baby was already uncomfortable. If he wasn’t crying, don’t pull them out. My sister’s coworker recommended this teether. I now own two. My baby loves these. They’re squishy and he likes to rub the bristles on his gums. He doesn’t even care if it’s not cold… which is good because they don’t really stay cool for long.
4. Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo
Or better known in my house as jumpy-jumpy. I researched the crap out of this before I decided on it. I read blog posts, reviews on Amazon and BuyBuyBaby and watched videos. My baby loves the jumperoo. He was about to be 4 months when he first tried it out (he had great head control already). We put a game of backgammon under his little toesies to help him reach. Now at almost 6 months, his curiosity for the different toys on this thing continues to grow. I put him in there for short bits of time and it keeps him entertained for a little. He loves to bounce around and touch all the animals and toys. I’m sure its also helping his leg strength. I’m happy with my decision on this one.
5. Fisher-Price Snugabunny Cradle ‘n Swing with Smart Swing Technology
I have been really lucky. My baby has not been colicky or super fussy generally. However, he is a baby so there have been a handful of special evenings when he has cried uncontrollably. We rocked him, sang to him, put a boob in his mouth–we exhausted all the usual tricks–and none of it was working. The minute we’d put him in this swing…meltdown over. Despite my insistence to be able to soothe my baby better than anyone or anything, I must give credit to this life saving swing. For the most part, I use it to let him swing for a bit if I need to use the restroom or put laundry to wash. You can set it up to swing forward and backward or side to side and you can control how fast it goes. It has 4 different sound settings which includes lullabies and nature sounds. Sometimes I set him in there if I just want to sit and interact with him with my hands free, read him a book or sing the itsy bitsy spider.
6. DaVinci Olive Upholstered Swivel Glider and ottoman
Last but definitely not least, this guy! I took this picture straight from Amazon. I spend a lot of time in my glider so I’m glad I was adamant that it have comfortable, padded arms and a high back to support my head. My family likes to call it my Psycho chair because it sits by the window and I can see people coming before they ring the doorbell. I do some good people watching from my perch.
But back to why it’s good for the baby… nothing makes him fall asleep faster than rocking in the glider. I chose this particular one because it was relatively affordable, attractive, checked off all my comfort boxes and well reviewed on Amazon.
What are some items that have made a difference in your baby journey?
